Qualifications
After
gaining the usual secondary school qualifications, I spent four years
studying Fine Art and gained a BA (Hons) degree in the subject.
After
this, I learnt something useful, shorthand and typing, which although
seemingly uninspiring, has given me the edge time wise in my writing,
both in articles and short stories as well as for my website.
My
next qualification was a Teaching Certificate in Further and Adult Education.
After my years at college, I really didn't feel I could stay another
year learning my PGCE but found the Teaching Certificate a welcome addition
to my teaching experience, first in art and later in astrology.
Simultaneously,
I gained my English Huber School Diploma in Astrology, and very soon
after that I took a course in IT applications. ( Useful but dull ! ).
Astrology,
where it all started !
I
first became interested in Astrology after being dragged to an evening
talk by my inquisitive mother who was concerned to take my mind off
an imminent divorce!
I
was intrigued and took up a course which later resulted in my Diploma
in Astrology.
For
a long period Astrology was just a paying hobby and an interest for
study.
Then
I met Spooky (Simon), a former graphic designer and illustrator
who having ended a technology business and a relationship (classic Saturn
return at age 29 !) had become interested in Astrology through "seeking
hope" in daily Sun Signs and a chance meeting with the late Patrick
Walker a leading Astrologer at the time.
In
a fairy tale story Simon was advised to see a very good Tarot Card reader
called Ann, who on hearing Simons growing interest in Astrology suggested
that he meet me (an existing client) to learn more about Astrology with
the words "you two will get on very well"!
We did and have lived together ever since!
Simon
(Aquarius), went on to become Senior Producer with a computer games
company where the nickname Spooky was acquired after FBI agent Mulder
in the TV series the X-files and Simons initials!
I
saw clients personally here and there in between lots of other jobs
(I'm a Gemini, what can you expect).
When
the Computer Games company split up through board room politics Simon
left the industry and used his time to teach himself the basics of web
site production.
After
buying a home computer and seeing the internet for the first time the
first web site Astrology UK was started with just two regular visitors a week in
February 2000.
By
Christmas while Simon was working as a Project Manager with a European
Internet Service Provider, it was becoming obvious that
waiting for cheques in the post for online orders needed to improve
just a bit in order to service 800 visitors a day!
A new web design and e-commerce facilities (secure
online credit card payment), were not only learned about from scratch
but fully implemented! In March 2001 AnnabelBurton.com replaced the original web site.
Simon
is now the Commercial and Technical Director for Annabel Burton Astrology.
Originally
Astrology UK was intended to reach people a little further away than
Cheshire in England, we quickly realised we were talking to a worldwide audience. Now
AnnabelBurton.com is visited by people in 140+ countries with online orders
from as far away as China, Japan & Hawaii, We have always had a bug audience in the UK, Canada & USA but we are amazed that we have fans in the Middle East as well as just round the corner!
In recent years we started Ask the Astrologer and Astrology Secret
Through
Astrology I have been able to help people in need of guidance worldwide,
indulge my interest in a satisfying career and earn a living while doing
it.
If
all of this sounds easy, let me tell you that when you learn an ancient
discipline and many aspects of a very new technology combine and apply
them together as a commercial success, where nearly everything has been
self taught and home produced, a very great deal of unpaid work was
done!
While friends and family were out socialising a home computer and a
couple of laptops built a professional operation that I am proud of
... and I know from your feedback we got a few things right.

Reiki
I
am a qualified Reiki
Master and now provide Reiki sessions to people in Cheshire (UK). It
interests me that many of the teachings of the Reiki art are so compatible
with Astrology and an enhanced sense of spirituality and intuition.
Psychic
Development
Astrology
Tarot and Reiki all share at their core a need to use an enhanced intuition
and much greater spiritual awareness. I have developed my Psychic
abilities while working with some of the countries best practitioners.
Interests
It
would be easier to say what I am not interested in. This is football,
pensions, economics, and books written by Jackie Collins.
Of
course, I am passionate about Astrology. It seems we live in very compartmentalized
lives; everything has a label, a classification, a box. In this sense,
I am interested in things that leak out of the box, so to speak, or
that which defies definition.
Maybe
this is a typical Geminian approach to the world; life is too short
to be immersed in one thing for too long, but a passing glance at almost
everything provides a stimulating framework for those fleeting thoughts
and impressions.
So
I would be very interested in the sea, somewhere warm, hot sand between
my toes, a gentle breeze rippling the sparkling water, and the low bass
notes of a good blues tune playing in my ear. Mmm!
I
am also interested in the past, though know very little about it, but
the more I learn the more I understand the arrogance of the present.
Who are we too judge that we have reached some sort of pinnacle of human
superiority?
Just
a glance at ancient architecture and art reveals a fantastic sophistication
and the certain evidence of lives enriched with spirituality and meaning.
So
I have many interests, none of which takes up too much precious time.
I guess I am one of life's observers, as participating requires a deep
commitment, although the odd foray into the maelstrom of life is fun
at times.
For
those of you with some astrological knowledge, so speaks the woman with
three twelfth house planets in Gemini, Gemini rising, Neptune and Saturn
in air, and I don't mind being called an air head!

Astrology
& Horoscopes
A
Horoscope is the name given to the Birth Chart drawn up by an Astrologer
and is a representation of the moment of your birth, or the moment of
a specific event.
When
done properly a Horoscope Chart shows the positions of all the planets
in our Solar System (including the Sun and the Moon) and their relative
position in the Zodiac. The Zodiac is the "wheel" which portrays all
12 Astrological Sun Signs in sequence.
Often
the word Horoscope is understood to mean the text interpretation of
a Birth Chart. You will be most familiar with this written Horoscope,
or "Your Stars" as found in countless newspapers, magazine
and web sites around the world. Usually
these Horoscopes only take into account the position of our Sun within
a Birth Chart.
A
Professional Astrologer takes into account the effect of all the planets
in our Solar System, including the Sun and Moon to determine the characteristics
and "path" of an individual, place or an event to deliver a full personal
and very accurate Consultation.
Sun
Signs and Star Signs as popularly published within Horoscopes are a
very simple form of Astrology". You may be typical of your Sun sign
but the full flavour of your traits, characteristics and trends is dependent
on much more, and this is very unique to each individual or event.
